BREAKFAST SAUSAGE

It’s called breakfast sausage, but let’s be clear I’ll eat it for any meal. Living in the city has us busy all week. I find the earliest we end up getting home is around 7, and by the time dinner is made it ends up being later than I’d like to eat. I am always trying to find quick meals that I can throw together in a few minutes that are satisfying and delicious. I always keep ground meat in the fridge and freezer because it is the cheapest to get local and organic, and you can make it into pretty much anything you want. I love breakfast sausage, so seasoning pork with a sweet and garlicky blend always seems like a good idea. I keep a big jar of this spice mix in my cupboard and add it to pork whenever I am cooking it. I also love having this ready because its hard for us to find local and organic breakfast sausage that doesnt have a bunch of added sugar. You can just mix it together and form into patties for an easy breakfast sausage, or do it my fave way… the lazy way.. and just throw it all in a skillet. I think thats how the best meals are formed. Easy, delicious, and ready in 5 with some a plate of mixed greens and a pile of fermented veg.

BREAKFAST SAUSAGE SPICE BLEND

The best spice blend to use with pork to make breakfast sausage without the additives and extra sugar. Whole 30 compliant! Use 2 teaspoons of the spice blend per pound of pork.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp fennel seed
  • 3 tbsp garlic powder
  • 3 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 1/2 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tbsp ground pepper

Instructions

  1. Add all spices together in a mason jar, and shake together.

  2. Use 2 tsp per pound of ground pork and form into patties, or just fry up in a pan.
